What the video does not say, is the type of asbestos in the House of Commons. The International Ban Asbestos Secetrariat notes both crocidolite and chrysotile asbestos were used in the building. :<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><em>&#8220;Sprayed asbestos insulation containing <strong>crocidolite <\/strong>was used in the roof space of the House of Commons Chamber; linings of the ventilation ducts in the House of Commons were insulated with <strong>chrysotile <\/strong>(white asbestos).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The stance of the Canadian Government is based on the lower toxicity of chrysotile asbestos, due to its faster\u00a0lung clerance.\u00a0 The Canadian Government still funds the <a title=\"Crysotile Institue link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.chrysotile.com\" target=\"_blank\">Chrysotile Institute<\/a> to &#8220;promote the safe use of asbestos&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The end of asbestos mining and export in Canada appears closer, with the apparent\u00a0<a title=\"link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rightoncanada.ca\/?p=369\" target=\"_blank\">filing for bankruptcy<\/a> by Canada&#8217;s last asbestos mining company, LAB Chrysotile<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CBS News in Canada has a disturbinbg video of the use use of Canadian chrysotile asbestos in India.
