Schaffner<br \/>\nThe American Political Science Review, Vol. 3, No. 2 (May, 1909), p. 218<!--more--><br \/>\nPublished by: American Political Science Association<br \/>\nStable URL: http:\/\/www.jstor.org\/stable\/1944736<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;Industrial Hygiene<\/strong><br \/>\nThe example of the International Association for Labor Legislation in securing governmental cooperation in the investigation of occupational diseases is being followed by the American branch of the Association.<br \/>\nA bill (580 A.) introduced in the Wisconsin legislature on <strong>February 16, 1909,<\/strong> makes it the duty of the commissioner of labor and industrial statistics &#8220;to investigate, collect and publish all available information upon the subject of <strong>industrial hygiene<\/strong>, <em><strong>including the conditions that retard, or promote the health, vitality, energy and industrial efficiency of wage-earners<\/strong><\/em> in Wisconsin, and to inquire into measures and means of promoting the cooperation of employers and wage-earners toward the improvement of physique and industrial efficiency of the working people of the State.&#8221;<br \/>\nThe bill carries an annual appropriation of $5000 for a period of two years.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>It would be interesting to see what information was collected<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Its interesting to see early definitions of industrial hygiene: Margaret A.
