{"id":167,"date":"2009-03-31T16:29:16","date_gmt":"2009-03-31T06:29:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.dbohs.com\/?p=167"},"modified":"2009-03-31T16:30:46","modified_gmt":"2009-03-31T06:30:46","slug":"synergism-in-nanotoxicology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.dbohs.com\/?p=167","title":{"rendered":"Synergism in nanotoxicology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nanotoxicology is a complex field but the synergistic effects of nanoparticles are now being studied. <!--more-->Guo, Zebda, Drake and Sayes have just published a paper in <strong>Particle and Fibre Toxicology<\/strong> (2009, 6:4) titled <a title=\"nano paper PDF\" href=\"http:\/\/www.particleandfibretoxicology.com\/content\/6\/1\/4\" target=\"_blank\">Synergistic effect of co-exposure to carbon black and Fe2O3 nanoparticles on oxidative stress in cultured lung epithelial cells<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Here, carbon black and iron oxide nanoparticles were found to be more toxic as a mixture than either nanoparticle separately. The toxicity of <a title=\"carbon black Wiki\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Carbon_black\" target=\"_blank\">carbon black <\/a>has been known for many years.<\/p>\n<p>This type of of research does point to increasing the complexity of evaluating nanomaterials.
