Its been raining for weeks and there is more to come. Things are getting mouldy and farmers are having a hard time as crops are wiped over a huge area. Some 72 people are missing and 9 are confirmed dead, half children. Brisbane was flooded in 1974 and we may be facing the same again – or worse. I have posted an overlay of predicted flooding on Google Earth.
In 2007 we were facing water restrictions and a dam built for flood mitigation after the 1974 floods is near its full capacity.
At present the dam system is at 160% capacity and huge volumes are being released before the king tide on Friday.
The images of cars rocketing down streets in the present flash flooding is pretty frightening, but there may be worse to come.
