ARPANSA , the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency was formed with the merger of ANSTO (formerly the Australian Atomic Energy Commission) in Sydney and the Australian Radiation laboratories in Melbourne. The UV Section of the old ARL have done some wonderful work over the years and publishes UV maps around Australia that are updated every minute.

I put the Brisbane Realtime UV Index Data on my PC wallpaper using a neat freeware utility called Usage Agent that also shows my web downloads from my ISP. Both are set to update every 10 minutes.
