COVID-19. Face Masks and playing the piano

I have a piano in the living room, but its presence does not mean I know how to play it.

When people have a face mask, the impression is that they know how to use it and protect themslelves. Nothing could be futher from the truth.

Learning the piano is hard – I have tried and given up. Selecting the right face mask and making it work is probably harder. The editors of news sites would have us believe that just wearing any mask will give us 100% protection. Its a bit like expecting a person to be an expert pianist by just sitting at a piano.

Many select the wrong one – usually a surgical mask, uncertified mask, or fake certified one from Amazon or eBay. Even if a certified P2 mask is purchased, actually getting a good seal to the face to get a modicum of protection is hard, even with expensive quantitative fit testing.

It appears it is far better to stay 1-2 m from other people if you want protection from COVID-19.
