Review of Australian Ventilation Code

Standards Australia will revise AS1668 in 2012. It will interesting to see what they have on displacement ventilation.

This year stakeholders will have the opportunity to contribute to the revision of one of the more significant standards, AS 1668.2 ‘The use of ventilation and air-conditioning in buildings – Ventilation design for indoor air contaminant control’.

The revision seeks to separate AS1668.2 into two parts: AS1668.2 – Mechanical Ventilation of Buildings and AS1668.4 – Natural Ventilation of Buildings. Issues proposed to be addressed through the revision relate to natural ventilation, smoking in buildings and changes in ventilation technology, communities and workplaces. It is anticipated the Building Code of Australia will adopt the revised edition of AS1668.2.

The Standard is scheduled to be released for public comment by mid-2012 and further details will be provided at that time.  As always stakeholders will be encouraged to participate in the public comment process.
